The AA-1-class was an early class of United States Navy submarines.

2 History
The AA-1-class submarines were built near the end of World War I. They were experiments in the use of submarines as long range reconnaissance vessels. The AA-1s were originally designated as Submarine Torpedo Boats 52, 60, and 61 (with hull classification symbols SS-52, SS-60, and SS-61 respectively). They were based out of Hampton Roads, Virginia as part of Submarine Division 15 in the Atlantic Fleet.
On 17 July 1920, the three boats were reclassified as Fleet Submarines and given the designations SF-1, SF-2, and SF-3. Their names were changed to T-1, T-2, and T-3 on 22 September 1920.
