It lies between Pisces to the west and Taurus to the east.

Aries' stars are rather faint except for Hamal (α Arietis) and SharatanSharatan also known as Beta Arietis or 6 Arietis is a star in the constellation Aries, it is the second Ram's horn. Al Sharatan means "the two signs", a reference to the star having marked the vernal equinox together with its binary partner Mesarthim (Gam (β). Other important stars are Mesarthim (γ1) and BoteinBotein (δ Ari) is a star in the constellation Aries. Diameter is 13 times that of the sun. Stars Aries constellation. (δ).

Only seven stars with such large proper motions are currently known. It appears to be a, in Aries, is one of our sun's closest neighbours.

2 Notable deep sky objects

The few deep sky objectDeep sky object (DSO is a term used often in amateur astronomy to denote objects in the night sky other than solar system objects (such as planets, comets and asteroids), single stars and multiple star systems. Generally these objects are not visible withs in Aries are very dim. They include the galaxiesThis article is about a celestial body. For alternate meanings see galaxy (disambiguation). Spiral Galaxy ESO 269-57 is about 150 million light-years away and 200,000 light-years across. Stars are almost always found in collections called galaxies togethe NGC 697 (northwest of β), NGC 772 (southeast of (β), NGC 972 (in the constellation's northern corner), and NGC 1156 (northwest of δ).

3 Mythology

In Greek mythology, this is believed to represent the ram who carried Athamas's son Phrixus and daughter Helle to Colchis to escape their stepmother Ino. Helle fell off into the sea which later became the Hellespont. On reaching safety, Phrixis (rather ungratefully) sacrificed the ram and hung its fleece in the Grove of Ares, where it turned to gold and later became the quest of Jason and the Argonauts. It appears that Babylonians, Greeks, Persians and Egyptians all agreed on the name of the Ram for this constellation.
