Bangalore (ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು in Kannada) is the capital city of Karnataka. It has 4.5 million inhabitants and is the fourth largest city in India ( 2004)[3].
Post independence, Bangalore evolved into a manufacturing hub for major heavyweight industries such as Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. and Indian Space Research Organization. More recently, Bangalore has been an important contributor to the growth of information technology in India.
The city is also the Training Command for the Indian Air Force.
