True to its name, this is one of the premier institutes of oriental research. Lying at the junction of Law College Rd and Bhandarkar Rd, it was ransacked in January 2004 by an irate mobe angered by the help it had rendered to a western writer who had apparently written a few objectionable passages about Shivaji in his book.
