The Blue Wonder ( Ger. Blaues Wunder) is a bridge over the Elbe river in the German city of Dresden. It connects Dresden-Blasewitz and Dresden-Loschwitz, two lovely villa quarters, the most expensive living area of Europe in earlier times. It is located close to the world´s oldest cable railway and also the oldest aerial cableway, as well as near to the Dresden TV Tower.

In the 19th century it was a masterpiece of technology to build such a bridge. Today it looks less like a wonder but it is center of romantic innercity places. Normally it was green, but the weather always makes it blue again.

In 1945 different people independently from each other and under danger of death saved the bridge from being destroyed by the Nazis.

The river under the bridge is the home of the worlds biggest paddle steamer fleet, the surrounding area of the Elbe meadows (20 kilometers long) have been declared to be a cultural world heritage by the UNESCO in 2004.
