Units were originally numbered from 1066 onwards. This was because the first unit converted were former Hastings units, and 1066 was the year the Battle of Hastings occurred! Units were subsequently renumbered into the 951066-069 range, although not all units survived long enough in traffic to receive their new set number. The main units are dealt with below.
