Ceremony is the first single released by British group New Order. It was released in March 1981 with the catalogue number FAC 33. Two studio versions of the song exist; one has Gillian Gilbert on keyboards, the other was recorded before she joined the group. Both versions were produced by Martin Hannett. "Ceremony" and the b-side "In a Lonely Place" were both originally written by Ian Curtis of Joy Division, although never released by the group. The only time that Joy Division played "Ceremony" was at their last show in May 2nd 1980 at High Hall in Birmingham University. This version can be heard on the LP Still (album). There is also a version from the sound check preserved on the Heart and Soul Box Set.

Both "Ceremony" and "In A Lonely Place" appear on the 1987 New Order compilation Substance; the version of Ceremony is the one that includes Gillian Gilbert.
