Confuciusornis a genus of several bird species known in china dating 120 million years back. Recognized species are C. sanctus ( Type species), C. dui, C. chuonzhous and C. suniae. A close relative consists of Changchengornis hengdaoziensis from the same time and region. Confuciusornithids are recognized by their robust beak, and the fact that a fair half of the specimens containing feathers have a long pair of feathers from their tail, which may indicate the male (or female?) of the species. Changchengornis allso posessed these feathers, and a noticeable fluffy coat of feathers.
