The territory known as Costa Smeralda is 55 km long and more than 3,000 hectars wide.
This development, started in 1961, was financed by a Consortium of companies; president of this Consortium and representative figure was the Prince Karim Aga Khan. Among the many famous architects involved in the project, Busiri-Vici and Vietti.

In September the Sardinia Cup ( sailing) is in its waters; reggatta s are usually run by famous boats.
