Cricket is a batA cricket bat is used by the batsmen in the sport of cricket. This specialised bat is shaped something like a paddle with a flat side and shallow V shaped side, the flat side is used to hit the ball. The bat is traditionally made from willow wood, specifi and ballThe cricket ball is a hard, solid ball with an interior of cork and a leather case with a slightly raised sewn seam. For men's cricket, the ball must weigh between 5. 75 ounces (155. 9 and 163 g) and measure between 8. 8125 and 9 in (224 and 229 mm) in ci sport. The objective of the game is to score more runsIn the sport of cricket, a run is the basic unit of scoring. Runs are is scored by a batsman, and the aggregate of the batsmen's scores (plus any extras) constitutes the team score. A batsman scoring 50 (a 'half century') or 100 runs (a 'century') is cons (points) than the opposing team.
A match is divided into innings. During an innings, one team bats while the other team bowls and fields. (Note: when referring to "a team's innings," one usually means that team's turn to bat.) Games may be played over one or two innings. For some one innings matches each team's innings may be restricted to a set number of fair deliveries to be bowled by the opposing team.
The team batting first aims to set a target score for the opposition and the team batting second chases the target. Each of a team's eleven players continues to bat until he is "out"; once he is out, he may not bat again in that innings. The bowling team tries to limit the runs scored by the batting team and at the same time to get the opposition players out, an event which is described as 'taking a wicket'. Once ten players of the batting team have been dismissed (ie ten wickets have been taken) the innings comes to an end.
The winner is the team which has scored the most runs. If the team batting last loses, they are said to have lost the match by m run(s), where m is the difference in scores between the teams. If the team batting last wins they are said to have won the match by n wickets, where n is the number of additional wicket(s) the opposing team needed to take to bring the innings to an end. If both teams score the same number of runs, and the team batting last has completed its last innings, the match is a tie. If the match cannot be completed before the allotted time for the match expires, the result is a draw. If the match has only single innings per side, with a set number of deliveries, and the match is abandoned without completion due to an impossibility of continuing the play, because of bad weather, unruly crowd or any such unlikely event or situation, the result is declared as No-Result.
