DS-Max (probably stands for "Direct Sales to the Maximum"), or more precisely D S Max USA Inc [1] and its affiliates, is a direct sales company that originally specialized in selling discount/overstock/damaged merchendize, and later expanded to include sales of discount coupons, accounts with telecommunication companies like AT&T, promotions for credit card companies, and many others. Started in 1980 in Toronto, Canada by a 26-year old university graduate Murray Reinhart selling goods directly on the street, it later expanded to become one of the top 10 direct sales companies worldwide, with thousands of offices and presence in most countries.Sometimes the phrase "DS-Max" is used to refer to the whole system that includes DS-Max USA Inc. and its affiliated suppliers, its offices (all of them independently owned and operated companies), and the individual distributors inside the offices (who are in most cases independent contractors).
Despite its success as a company, many people who worked as distributors, and even some of the managers who ran companies in the DS-Max system have not enjoyed success, and sometimes condemn it as a marketing scam [2].
