He is also known as the "educated hunk" because of his insatiable hunger for knowledge. He has already tucked up a degree in Architecture but he still goes to school. He only has to finish his thesis to tuck up a B.A. Film degree and seven subjects (one semester) for a B.A. Philosophy degree. He has also taken advance courses in Landscape Architecture and Art Studies , and a few other subjects ( computer science, etc.) during summer.
He loves to study. His motto: "I hate being idle. Time to me is like gold. Not a minute should be wasted." Aside from acting he also teaches Language, Literature and Philosophy of Man at Far Eastern University (FEU), Fairview, Quezon City. This is how he earned his monicker Professor Balboa.
He is also an accomplished theater actor. He debuted as Dr. Jose Rizal in 1898, followed by Mate, May Kaluluwa Ba sa Likod ng Utak? (at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), with Julio Diaz and Sylvia Sanchez among his co-stars), The Bomb (of Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) Productions and directed by Soxy Topacio ), staged at the Raha Sulayman Theater in Fort SantiagoA defence fortress built by Miguel Lopez de Legaspi. Originally, it stoods the palisade of Rajah Soliman, chieftain of Maynilad. Located at the mouth of the Pasig River, it was once the primer defence fort of the Spanish Empire in the Philippines.
