1 History

To accommodate to the rapid expansion of Federation in the late 22nd and early 23rd centuries Starfleet answered the problem by building new orbital facility. For years Starfleet only had a single-ship orbital platform for maintaining and building of Federation starships until the Spacedock was built in 2274. The station built like a small city process the processing, refining, manufacturing, and assembly structures needed to repair, maintain, and construct starships in the same place. Its centralized design eliminated much of the inefficient transporting of resources previously letting the station pay for its original cost over a decade. Impressed by the station’s efficiency savings Starfleet has built 16 spacedocks which are still in operation today.
