East Ham is a place in London, England in the London Borough of Newham. From 1904 to 1965 it was an independent county borough but has always been part of the London postal district. It is just to the north of London City Airport. For the benefit of historians it should be noted that, although the County Borough was an independent unit, the majority of public records up to 1965 are held in the Essex County Record Office.
