Eaton Rapids is a city in Eaton County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 5,330.

The city is located in the south of Eaton Rapids Township, on the boundary with Hamlin Township, though it is politically independent of both townships. Michigan State Highway 99 connects with Interstate 94, 19 miles to the south, near Albion, and with Interstate 96, 12 miles north, just south of Lansing. Michigan State Highway 50, connects with Interstate 69, nine miles west in Charlotte and with U.S. Highway 127 and Interstate 94, 21 miles to the southeast just north of JacksonJackson is a city located in Jackson County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 36,316. It was founded in 1827. It is the birthplace of the Republican Party. One of the Apollo capsules is kept here at the Jackson Space Cen.

The population density is 608.9/km˛ (1,576.9/mi˛). There are 2,168 housing units at an average density of 247.7/km˛ (641.4/mi˛). The racial makeup of the city is 96.12% White, 0.38% African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.01% from other races, and 1.50% from two or more races. 2.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 3.11.

In the city the population is spread out with 31.0% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.9 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $39,769, and the median income for a family is $48,239. Males have a median income of $37,582 versus $29,440 for females.
