Its territory was split between the following departements Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Val-d'Oise and Yvelines.

In 1969, les communes de Châteaufort and Toussus-le-Noble have been separated from Essonne to be added to the Yvelines département.
