The Fafo Foundation a.k.a Fafo Applied Social Science is the head of two Norwegian research institutes: Fafo Institute for Labour and Social Research ( Fafo AVF ) and Fafo Applied International Studies ( Fafo AIS), conducting social research both nationally in Norway and internationally.

Current Director at Fafo and Managing Director at Fafo AVF is Jon M. Hippe.

The Fafo Institute of Applied Social Science was founded by the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) in 1983, and becamse an independent research foundation in 1993.
