In the Mahabharata, Ghatotkacha is the son of Bhima and Hidimbi . He is killed by Karna in the great battle.


In more recent history, Ghatotkacha(c. 280- 319 A.D.) was a pre- imperial Gupta king in northern India. His reign is considered insignificant and he is best known as the father of Chandragupta I, the first Gupta emperor.
