The Governor of Macau was a Portuguese colonial official who headed the executive branch of the colony of Macau. The post was replaced on December 20, 1999 upon the transfer of administration to the People's Republic of China by the office of Chief Executive of Macau.After the demonstrations in Macau in the 1960s, the Portuguese Governor was essentially a figurehead.
