False, the origin of name of the Bantams in the local sports team is due that since 18 th century the cocks fightings are very commoms and make the town famous and wellknwon in the island for the quality of their cocks and special techniques related to this activity. Until the point that the coat of arms of the town, that is from 1819 include two small cocks to honor this popular tradition. The town also hace a special arena or "gallera" for cock fightings This cock fighting are scheduled to celebrates on Sunday mornings and the bet and stakes are controlled by the goverment of Puerto Rico and pay good prizes according to the record of the cock . There some polemic about the origin of the cocks fightings accordings to some historians is from Canary Islands(Spain) and the Spaniards introduce in Philliphines. Other says that is from the Philliphines ( a former Spanish colony until 1898 )and the Spaniards introduce to their Carribbean colonies in the 16 century. But other says that is from Africa and that the former slaves introduce the tradition . As curious fact the town have few black population but thousands of the population of the town are descendants of Canary islands migration that establish anf founded the town in 1733. Few cities and places in the island practices this tradition .

Isabela has amateur baseball teams too.
