Novelist and Investigator

Jason King was a typical product of late 1960s/early 70s televison. Featuring the adventures of the eponymous character who had first appeared in Department S . Jason King was created by Dennis Spooner and made by Lew Grade's ITC Entertainment , which later became part of ATV, which had become successful with The Saint series.

The format was straightfoward. Over 26 episodes King, portrayed by the smooth Peter Wyngarde , would manage to become embroiled in a 50 minute adventure which took in glamourous women, exotic locations (for the era) and menacing villians. Many episodes would play on the fact that King, when not fighting bad guys and seducing continental beauties, was the author of a type of fiction that might be adapted for an adventure TV series.
