Jayendra Saraswathi (born July 18, 1935 as Subramanyam Mahadeva Iyer) is the 70th (current) Kanchi Shankaracharya ( guru of the Kanchi Shankara Mutt ).

He became the Shankaracharya of Kanchi and was named Jayendra Saraswathi on March 22, 1954.

On November 11, 2004, he was arrested on charges of murdering a temple priest.
