The Jhelum District is one of the Districts of the Punjab Province of Pakistan.

1 Location

Located in the north of the Punjab province, Jhelum District is bordered by Sargodha to its south, Gujrat and the Jhelum River to its south and east, Chakwal to its west, Mirpur to its east, and Rawalpindi to its north.

2 Subdivisions

Jhelum District contains three Tehsils: Jhelum , Sohawa , and Pind Dadan Khan . It also contains the city of Jhelum .

3 Climate

Jhelum is hot in summer, and dry and mild in winter. Average annual rainfall is about 900 mm (about 35 inches.)

Alexander the Great conquered this region in 326 B.C., crossing the Hydaspes (the Jhelum river) to defeat Porus at the the Battle of the Hydaspes. Pakistan
