Johann Gottfried Bernhard Bach ( 1715– 1739) was the fourth son of Johann Sebastian Bach. Born in Weimar, he was educated in Leipzig. He served as organist in Mühlhausen and later in Sangerhausen , beginning in 1735, but in 1738 he abandoned a career in music in order to study Law in Jena. He died prematurely at the age of twenty-four.
