La Madeleine is a river which begins at 780 m above sea level in a valley in Vosges. It begins at the top of Baerenkopf near the commune of Lamadeleine-Val-des-Anges . 25 km downstream, is forms a tributary with Saint-Nicolas at 440 m lover (340 m above sea level) in Britanny with Bourbeuse . It flows through the communes of include Bourg-sous-Châtelet , Anjoutey and Autruche and near Novillard . The basin in that area is 45 km².Other tributaries include ( La Savourouse and Rosemontoise . Flood risks were limited within its banks in the 1990s.
The Madeleine's tributaries include:
- Etueffont, a irver which flows from a rocky area. It is also a fishing area.
- The tributary of Borbeuse and Saint-Nicolas in a marshy area then into its ponds and into the farmlands.
The river ends near D419 in Moulin-des-Bois near Bessoncourt
