Sir Lennox Berkeley ( May 12, 1903 - December 26, 1989) was a British composer.

He was born in Oxford, England, and educated at Merton College, Oxford. In 1927, he went to Paris to study music with Nadia Boulanger, and there he became acquainted with Francis Poulenc, Igor Stravinsky, Darius Milhaud, Arthur Honegger and Albert Roussel. The French influence would continue to be felt in his music. His son, Michael BerkeleyMichael Berkeley (born 1948) is a British composer. Berkeley's compositions include an oboe concerto (1977), an oratorio Or Shall We Die (1983), Gethsemani Fragments (1990), Secret Garden (1997) and The Garden of Earthly Delights (1998). He is also known, is also a composer.
