Liberalism is a relatively new current for Africa. Traditionally it only existed in Egypt, Senegal and South Africa. Nowadays, more or less liberal parties are also funtioning in Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d'Ivoire,
Equatorial Guinea (in exile), Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Seychelles, Tanzania, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.Liberalism and radicalism have a long tradition in many American countries, as in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Cuba, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the United States, Uruguay and Venezuela. Nowadays (more or less) liberal parties are also funtioning in Aruba, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Greenland, Grenada, Puerto Rico and
Suriname.Liberalism has or had some tradition in countries like India, Iran, Israel, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey. In many of these countries liberals tend not to use the label liberal. More or less liberal parties are also active in Burma, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
