Mary Tyler Moore (born December 29, 1936) is an American actress and comedian, best known for The Mary Tyler Moore Show, in which she starred as Mary Richards, a 30ish single woman who worked as a news producer at WJM-TV in Minneapolis.Moore was born in Brooklyn and grew up in California. At the age of 17, she started off with a role as Happy Hotpoint , on television commercials broadcast during Ozzie and Harriet.
