Maryville College is a private four-year liberal arts college in Maryville, Tennessee, near Knoxville. It was founded in 1819 and is one of the fifty oldest colleges in the United States and the twelveth oldest institution in the South. It is associated with the Presbyterian Church. Its student body is about 1,000 strong. Maryville College's mascot is the Scots. The sports teams compete in NCAADivision III athletics in the Great South Athletics Conference .
