1 Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 157.7 km˛ (60.9 mi˛). 133.3 km˛ (51.5 mi˛) of it is land and 24.4 km˛ (9.4 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 15.49% water.

2 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 9,479 people, 3,333 households, and 2,609 families residing in the town. The population density is 71.1/km˛ (184.2/mi˛). There are 3,505 housing units at an average density of 26.3/km˛ (68.1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 98.10% White, 0.21% Black or African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.34% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races. 0.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
