Mzuzu is the capital of Malawi's Northern region and the third largest city in the country, with a population of 119,592 (2003). It is in the center of an agricultural region, specializing in tea and coffee cultivation. A university has recently opened in Mzuzu as well. There are adequate accommodations for tourists visiting the north of the country, particularly the Nyika Plateau and Livingstone Mission . The Viphya Forest to the south of the town is often named as the largest man-made forest in the world.
