Nankai refers to the series of schools founded in China by the famous patriotic-educationists Zhang Boling (张伯苓) (1876-1951) and Yan Fansun (严范孙) (1860-1920). The schools mainly comprise Nankai High School (南开中学)(1904), Nankai University (南开大学)(1919), (both in Tianjin), Chongqing Nankai High School (重庆南开中学)(1936)(in Chongqing during the World War II moved from Tianjin) and others.

The Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and ex-premier Zhou Enlai both graduated from Nakai Middle School.
