Oxford is the location of the University of Mississippi, which is also known as "Ole Miss". William Faulkner once lived here, and in fact Lafayette County, Mississippi was used as a model for the fictional Yoknapatawpha County. Oxford is also a thriving art town. Author John Grisham lives in Oxford as well.
