Home > Patrick Chapman


Patrick Chapman is an Irish poet, fiction writer and screenwriter whose first collection, Jazztown, was published in 1991. His next collection, The New Pornography, followed in 1996. Several of his short stories appeared in places such as The Irish Times and The Sunday Tribune in the late 1990s.

His first film script, Burning The Bed, was directed by Denis McArdle in 2003. The short film starred Gina McKee and Aidan Gillen, and was adapted from Chapman's own short story. Another story, A Ghost, won first prize in the story category of the 2003 Cinescape Genre Literary Contest in Los Angeles. Chapman's second script, Toxin, based on one of his poems, was filmed in 2004. His third collection of poetry, Touchpaper Star, followed in the same year.

His work has been translated into several languages for anthologies around the world. Chapman was born in County Roscommon, Ireland, in 1968. He continues to work on a variety of projects in poetry, fiction and film.
