Paul Tanner (born October 15, 1917) is an American musician.

Tanner played trombone with Glenn Miller, and worked as a studio musician in Hollywood. He later became a professor at UCLA, and authored the most used jazz history textbook.

Tanner also developed and played the Electro theremin, as used on the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" and the My Favorite Martian theme.
