Peadar Kearney ( December 12, 1883 - November 1942) wrote the lyrics to Amhrán na bhFiann, the Irish national anthem, in 1907. His nephew Brendan Behan was a well-known Irish writer. There is a plaque on the wall on the west side of Dorest Street, Drumcondra Road, Dublin commemorating Kearney.
