Pemberton Township is a township located in Burlington County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 28,691. Pemberton Township is governed under the Faulkner Act (Mayor-Council) system of municipal government.

1 Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 161.8 km² (62.5 mi²). 159.8 km² (61.7 mi²) of it is land and 2.1 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.31% water.

2 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 28,691 people, 10,050 households, and 7,487 families residing in the township. The average household size is 2.80 and the average family size is 3.22.

In the township the population is spread out with 27.6% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 31.5% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.7 males.

The median income for a household in the township is $47,394, and the median income for a family is $52,860. Males have a median income of $36,572 versus $26,689 for females. The per capita income for the township is $19,238. 9.3% of the population and 6.2% of families are below the poverty line.
