Pinkerton is the second album by the American rock band Weezer, released September 24, 1996. Unlike its predecessor, often known as The Blue Album released in 1994, Pinkerton was not a commercial success. This is at least partially due to the fact that Weezer was sued by the Pinkerton National Detective Agency upon release of the album, and was not permitted to advertise the album until the claims were rejected.

Pinkerton draws from Puccini's Madame Butterfly in its themes. Pinkerton was originally planned as Songs From The Black Hole , a "space opera," as Rivers Cuomo described it. The concept was scrapped, and Pinkerton used several of the songs.
