Polkowice is a town in south-western Poland with 21,700 inhabitants (2004).

Situated in the Lower Silesian Voivodship (since 1999), previously in Legnica Voivodship (1975-1998). Polkowice is among the richest cities in Poland and has been designated as the best administered Polish gmina on a couple of occasions. The relative succes of a city is also due to fact that Polkowice is located in the industrial copper-mining area, with a copper-processing plants located in the Polkowice powiat.
