Prairie Village is a city located in Johnson County, Kansas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 22,072.

1 Geography


Prairie Village is located at 38°59'23" North, 94°38'10" West (38.989655, -94.636162) 1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 16.1 km˛ (6.2 mi˛). 16.1 km˛ (6.2 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Remnants of the Santa Fe Trail are found in the city.

2 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 22,072 people, 9,833 households, and 6,165 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,370.1/km˛ (3,547.1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the city is 96.15% White, 0.78% African American, 0.16% Native American, 1.13% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 1.11% from two or more races. 2.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
