Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is a game developed by Midway Games. The games gives the player control over Nick Scryer who, in order to infiltrate an enemy base, has had facial reconstruction and a memory wipe. This as intended, has put him in an amnestic state, where he cannot remember his old memories and new ones have been placed in his head.The game makes it quickly apparent to the player that Nick has hidden psychic powers, which in time will reawaken and become available to Nick again. In total, there are six diverse powers:
- Telekinesis, the ability to move and lift objects or people with one's mind.
- Remote Viewing, the ability to induce an out-of-body experience, enabling the player to scout ahead of himself and go through doors to view enemies.
- Mind Control , the ability to hijack another persons body to use for yourself.
- Mind Drain , the ability to absorb the psi energy within a living or dead persons brain.
- Pyrokinesis, the ability to excite the atoms within an object or human, creating instant fire. In this game, the player throws a wall of fire from his hand.
- Aura Viewing, the ability to view creatures from another realm that inhabit Earth. Also used to view mines, the mood of an enemy, or evidence that has been ebbed out.
