State of Qin
( small seal script, 220 BC)Qin or Ch'in ( Wade-Giles) (秦) ( 778 BC- 206 BC) was a state during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Periods of China. It eventually grew to dominate the country and unite it for the first time, after which it is referred to as the Qin Dynasty. The royal surname is Ying (嬴).

- 361 BC Duke Xiao ascends the throne. Shang YangShang Yang (d. 338 BC) was an important statesman of Qin in the Warring States Period of ancient China. With the support of Duke Xiao of Qin, Shang Yang enacted numerous legalist reforms in the state of Qin that changed Qin from a peripheral, backwards st arrives from Wei.
