Quaid-e-Azam International Airport, also commonly known as Karachi International Airport, is Pakistan's largest international and domestic airport. It is located in Karachi, Pakistan and has the IATA Airport Code KHI. It is known as the Jinnah Terminal as well.As with most countries where the largest city is not the capital, the Government of Pakistan has designated Karachi's airport to be the leading aviation facility in that country, instead of Islamabad International Airport, the airport located at Pakistan's capital of Islamabad, a city much smaller than Karachi.
Karachi is the hub of Pakistan International Airlines, (PIA).
In 1981, there was a hijack of a PIA plane flying from Karachi to Damascus. The plane was diverted to Kabul, where one passenger was killed.
