Strange matter is one candidate for the hypothetical dark matter that is a feature of several cosmological theories.
Strange stars are largely theoretical at this point, but observations released by the Chandra X-Ray Observatory on April 10 20022002 is a common year starting on Tuesday (see link for calendar). 2002 was the first palindromic year since 1991 and the last until 2112. 2002 was also designated: International Year of Ecotourism and Mountains National Science Year in the United Kingdom detected two candidates, designated RXJ1856RX J1856 (aka RXJ185635-375 is a compact star that is suspected of being made of quark matter. This w and 3C583C58 is a compact star that is suspected of being made of quark matter. It is theorized that the interior of the star is a gigantic atomic nucleus due to the fact that it appears much cooler that expected for a neutron star. This was announced as being di, which had previously been thought to be neutron stars. Based on the known laws of physics, the former appeared much smaller and the latter much colder than they should, suggesting that they are composed of material denser than neutronium. However, these observations have been under attack by researchers who say the results were not conclusive; it remains to be seen how the question of strange star existence will play out.
