Queensboro Plaza is shared with the Astoria line , and is unique in being the only station with across the platform transfer between Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit Corporation and Interborough Rapid Transit and their differing car specifications. The station's upper level serves Queens-bound trains, and the lower level serves Manhattan-bound trains. The Flushing line train uses the south track on each level. The upper platform has low concrete walls with new concrete on the southern half. Descending 28 steps, the lower level has windows on the upper half of both walls, but many are broken or missing . The windows are frosted wire glass. From this level, if one descends more stairs to the mezzanine which has a concrete ramp across Queens Plaza North to the second floor of a building. This station is currently being renovated by NYCT employees (as opposed to an outside contractor). A computer assisted tower is being installed on the south end. (A traditional tower is already present, but will be renovated with new machinery.) This station is one of four stations on this line which are located on Queens Boulevard.
