RO-RO SHIP (RORO) is an acroynm for Roll On Roll Off.

RORO ships have their own built-in ramps on board which allow automobiles, trucks or any type of equipment with wheels to roll on (and roll off) a vessel when the ramp is in a down or 'open' position. There are Car Ferries (those ferries which can handle cars, trucks, busses etc..) which are generally not referred to as RORO's as this ancroynm is reserved for SHIPS. All new automobiles that are imported/exported by ship around the world are moved on RORO's. These large new-car carriers are commonly called "PCC's" or "PCTC's": Pure Car Carriers or Pure Car Truck Carriers respectively. The largerst PCC (which is expected to be launched in 2006) will be able to lift 8,000 automobiles, all of which will be loaded and discharged via its* own (on-board) ramp(s), making it not just a PCC.. but also a RORO.

referring to ships, the writer of this definition has used this same rule.
