The program is broadcast daily (except weekends) on the Irish RTÉ One TV channel. It can also be watched in full as a RealPlayer video stream from its associated Internet webpage.

Eileen Dunne is the usual presenter of the One O'Clock News. The programme is shorter than other RTÉ News bulittens, running at about 15 minutes. It is followed by Nuacht RTE: Clinlinnte Nuachta, a news summary in Irish accompanied by in-vision subtitles.

During the summer months, the One O'Clock News is usually contracted to an extended summary.

Other RTÉ News programs include , , and RTÉ News on Two. On the Internet, the current affairs programs Nationwide , Prime Time and Questions and Answers are also listed alongside these RTÉ News programs.

RTE also broadcasts an extended radio news programme on RTE Radio 1 at 1pm, this is presented by Sean O'Rourke.
