RTÉ News: Six One (or Six One) is RTÉ's early evening news programme. On Saturdays and Sundays the program is called Six One News And Sport (aka RTÉ News And Sport), reflecting the extended sports coverage, since most sports events take place on weekends.

The programme is presented by Brian Dobson and Una O'Hagan, and is the only RTÉ News bulletin with two presenters. The programme starts with a segement covering the main news stories of the day. After the first commercial break, there is typically an interview with a person connected with the main news story. This is followed by shorter, more off-beat, or regional reports. The final third of the programme includes a sports summary (with a seperate presenter) and a business news round-up.

Six-One has been RTÉ's flagship bulitten since its launch in October 1988. Its predecessor programme was known as "Newstime". It also went out at 6:01pm, but was preceded by an RTE News programme at 5:40pm. The programme's first lead male presenter, Sean Duignan, was later appointed Government Press Secretary. He was replaced by Eammon Lawlor, who later moved to RTÉ Lyric FM. He in turn was replaced by current incumbent Brian Dobson.

The programme starts at one minute past six after a minute-long pause for the Angelus, a Catholic prayer. The minute comprises an on-screen quotation, or religious images accompanied by church bells.

The programme is broadcast daily on the Irish RTÉ One TV channel. It can also be watched in full as a Real player video stream from its associated Internet webpage.

During the summer months, Six One has usually been contracted to a half-hour bulletin. The summer break has however been getting shorter, in 2004, this lasted for only four weeks in August.

Other RTÉ News programmes include , , and RTÉ News on Two. On the Internet, the current affairs programmes Nationwide , Prime Time and Questions and Answers are also listed alongside these RTÉ News programmes.
