Rachid Taha (born 1958 in Oran, Algeria) is an Algerian musician. His music is influenced by many different styles such as raï, techno, rock and punk. Taha was born in 1958, and moved to Alsace with his parents in 1968. In 1981, while living in Lyon, France, Taha met Mohammed and Moktar. The two of them would later form the band Carte de séjour ("residence permit") and record their first album, Rhoromanie, in 1983.
