The Santa Clarita Valley is part of the Santa Clara River valley, squeezed between the San Gabriel and Santa Susana Mountains to the South and the Sierra Pelona / Liebre Mountains / Topatopa Mountains to the North. Downstream of Santa Clarita, it is called Heritage Valley . The upstream portion is called Soledad Canyon .
